360 Event Settings

Configure every aspect of your 360 video capture — from countdown timers and clip speed to soundtracks and overlays.

Where to Find 360 Settings

360 settings can be configured in two places:

  • On the iPad — Go to Settings360 Settings in the ALIVE app
  • On the web dashboard — Open your event → Remote Setup tab → scroll to the 360 Capture section

Both places offer the same core settings. The web dashboard is convenient for pre-event setup, while the iPad settings are useful for last-minute adjustments on-site.

Countdown Timer

Set how many seconds the countdown runs before recording begins. The default is 5 seconds, giving your guest time to step onto the platform and strike a pose.

  • Adjust the Countdown slider to your preferred duration
  • The display text shown during countdown (e.g., "Get Ready") is also customizable

Video Size Presets

Choose the resolution and orientation of your 360 output:

Portrait orientation (720x1280) is the most popular choice for social media sharing.

Speed Presets

ALIVE includes built-in speed presets that control how the playback speed changes throughout the clip:

  • Slow (turtle) — Consistent slow-motion playback
  • Fast (rabbit) — Full-speed playback
  • Slow to Fast — Starts in slow-mo and speeds up
  • Slow to Fast to Slow — Dramatic speed ramp effect
  • Slow to Fast to Slow to Fast — Multi-ramp for longer clips

Timeline and Clips

For advanced control, use the Timeline editor to add multiple clips with individual settings:

  • Duration — How long each clip records (in seconds)
  • Speed — Playback speed multiplier for each clip (e.g., 0.5x for slow-mo, 1.0x for normal)
  • Add, remove, or reorder clips to create the exact effect you want

The estimated final duration and file size are displayed as you adjust settings, so you always know what to expect.

Quality

Adjust the video quality using the Quality (Mbps) slider. The default is 4 Mbps, which provides a good balance between quality and file size.

  • Higher Mbps = better quality, larger files
  • Lower Mbps = smaller files, faster sharing

Soundtrack

Add background music or sound effects to your 360 videos:

  1. Tap Soundtrack in the 360 settings
  2. Select an audio file from your device
  3. The audio will be mixed into the final 360 video output

Image Overlay

Layer a custom image on top of your 360 video — perfect for logos, event branding, or decorative frames:

  1. Tap Image Overlay in the 360 settings
  2. Upload your overlay image (PNG with transparency recommended)
  3. The overlay appears on every frame of the output video

Additional Options

  • Reverse — When enabled, the video plays forward then backward for a boomerang-like loop effect (enabled by default)
  • Save Original Video — Keep the unprocessed raw video alongside the final output
  • Flash While Recording — Blink the screen flash during recording when using the back camera, providing consistent lighting
  • Start Capture When Moved — Automatically begin recording when motion is detected on the platform
