Uploading Media to the Cloud

ALIVE automatically uploads your captured photos and videos to the cloud so they're accessible from anywhere — and so your guests can access their gallery links.

How It Works

When you have an active internet connection:

  1. Photos are captured during a booth session
  2. They're saved locally on your iPad
  3. In the background, they're uploaded to cloud storage
  4. Cloud URLs are generated for sharing via QR, SMS, and email

This happens automatically — you don't need to do anything.

When Does Upload Happen?

  • During the event — As each session completes, photos are uploaded in real-time while you have internet

What Gets Uploaded?

  • Original captured photos
  • AI-effected versions
  • ALIVE Effect videos
  • Template-rendered outputs

Internet Requirements

  • A stable Wi-Fi connection is recommended for reliable uploads
  • Cellular data works but may be slow for video uploads
  • No internet = no cloud upload. Photos are saved locally on the device only. They will not automatically retry uploading later — if photos weren't uploaded during the event, they remain local.

Make sure you have a reliable internet connection during the event. Photos that fail to upload are saved locally but won't sync to the cloud after the fact.

Local Media Saving

In addition to cloud uploads, ALIVE can save media directly to your device's Photos library. Go to SettingsLocal Storage to toggle each type:

  • Save Photos — Save captured photos to your device. Default: On
  • Save Videos — Save ALIVE Effect and AI videos to your device. Default: On
  • Save Templates — Save the rendered template images (photos with your designed layout) to your device. Default: On

Local saves happen regardless of internet connection — so even offline, your media is preserved on the device.

Clearing the Media Cache

Over time, cached photos and videos can take up significant storage on your device. To free up space:

  1. Go to Settings → scroll to the bottom
  2. Find Clear Media Cache (shows current cache size)
  3. Tap to clear

This removes cached files only — your cloud-uploaded media and locally saved Photos library copies are not affected.

Tips

  • Ensure stable Wi-Fi before going live — Venue Wi-Fi can be unreliable during events with hundreds of connected guests. A dedicated router helps.
  • Check your connection throughout the event — If sharing features stop working, your internet may have dropped
  • Cloud is required for sharing — QR code, SMS, and email sharing all depend on cloud uploads. Without internet, these features won't work.
  • Keep local saving enabled as a backup — Even if cloud uploads fail, you'll have copies on the device
