Creating a Custom AI Effect
Can't find the perfect effect in the library? Create your own. ALIVE lets you craft custom AI effects using text prompts — describe the style you want, and the AI will make it happen.
How Custom Effects Work
Instead of using a pre-built effect, you write a text prompt that describes the transformation you want. The AI uses your prompt to restyle the guest's photo.
For example:
- "Transform this into a vintage 1920s black and white photograph"
- "Make this look like a stained glass window"
- "Turn this into a claymation character"
The possibilities are as wide as your imagination (and the AI's capabilities).
How to Create a Custom Effect
- Go to the Effects tab
- Tap Create New Effect
- Enter your effect name — what guests will see
- Write your prompt — describe the style transformation you want
- Preview the effect with a test image
- Save

Writing Good Prompts
The prompt is everything. Here are some tips:
- Be specific — "Watercolor painting with soft pastel colors" is better than "make it artsy"
- Describe the style, not the content — The AI transforms the style, not what's in the photo
- Keep it concise — Clear, focused prompts produce more consistent results
- Iterate — Try different prompts and preview the results until you get what you want
Managing Custom Effects
Your custom effects are saved to your account and can be:
- Used across multiple events
- Edited or updated anytime
- Deleted if you no longer need them
Custom effects appear alongside built-in effects when selecting effects for an event.
Pricing
Custom effects cost the same as built-in effects — credits are deducted per use on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Use Cases
- Branded effects — Create an effect that matches a client's brand style
- Themed events — "Turn everyone into a Renaissance painting" for a museum gala
- Seasonal specials — Holiday-themed effects for December events
- Unique selling point — Offer exclusive custom effects that competitors can't
