Creating Questionnaire Templates

Questionnaires let you collect important event details from your clients — things like venue address, guest count, special requests, and preferred effects. You create reusable templates once, then attach them to any proposal.

Accessing the Questionnaire Builder

  1. Navigate to Proposals in your web dashboard
  2. Switch to the Questionnaires tab
  3. You'll see all your existing questionnaire templates listed as cards
  4. Click Create to start a new one

Each card shows the template title, number of questions, and the last updated date.

Creating a New Template

When you click Create, a new questionnaire opens in the editor in a new tab. The editor has two panels:

  • Left panel — The question builder where you add and configure questions
  • Right panel — A live preview showing exactly what the client will see

Start by giving your questionnaire a title (e.g., "Wedding Event Details" or "Corporate Event Intake") and an optional description to explain what you're collecting.

Adding Questions

Click Add Question to add a new question to your template. For each question, configure:

  • Label — The question text (e.g., "What is the venue address?")
  • Type — The kind of answer you want (see question types below)
  • Required — Whether the client must answer before submitting
  • Placeholder — Optional hint text shown in the input field
  • Options — For select-type questions, the choices available

Available Question Types

  • Short Text — A single-line text input, great for names, addresses, or short answers
  • Long Text — A multi-line text area for detailed responses
  • Number — A numeric input for things like guest count or budget
  • Single Select — A dropdown where the client picks one option
  • Multi Select — Checkboxes where the client can pick multiple options
  • Date — A date picker for event dates, setup times, etc.
  • File Upload — Lets clients upload files like logos, mood boards, or reference images

Mix question types to keep the questionnaire engaging. A wall of text inputs gets boring fast — use dropdowns and date pickers where they make sense.

Auto-Save

The questionnaire editor auto-saves your changes every 2 seconds as you work. You'll see a save indicator in the header showing when the last save happened. No need to manually save — just build and close when you're done.

Duplicating and Deleting

From the questionnaires list, hover over any template card to see action buttons:

  • Edit — Open the template in the editor
  • Duplicate — Create a copy of the template (great for making event-specific variations)
  • Delete — Remove the template permanently (this also removes it from any proposals using it)
