The Guest Experience: Start to Finish
Your guests don't read manuals. They walk up to a photobooth and expect it to just work. Here's exactly what they'll see and do — from approaching the booth to walking away with their photos.
Step 1: The Attraction Screen
The booth displays your attraction screen (also called the screen saver). This is what draws guests in — it can show a branded image, a slideshow, or a looping preview of AI effects.
Guests approach, see something fun on screen, and curiosity does the rest.
Step 2: Starting a Session
Depending on your settings, one of two things happens:
- Tap to start — the guest taps the screen to begin their session
- Auto-start — the booth detects a guest and starts automatically
Either way, the guest is now in the booth and ready to go.
Step 3: Capture Screen
The camera activates and the guest sees themselves on screen. A countdown appears (typically 3 seconds), giving them a moment to strike a pose.
The photos are taken — one or more, depending on your template configuration. Guests can see a quick preview of each shot as it's captured.
Step 4: AI Effect Processing
If you've enabled AI effects, here's where the magic happens. The guest's photo is sent for AI processing. A brief loading animation plays (usually a few seconds), and then the transformed result appears on screen.
Guests love this moment. Seeing themselves turned into a cartoon character, a Renaissance painting, or a superhero gets a reaction every time.
Step 5: The Share Screen
Now the guest sees their final photos — with your template applied — and gets to choose how they want to take them home:
- QR Code — scan to instantly open photos on their phone
- SMS — enter a phone number to receive a text with the link
- Email — type in an email address for delivery
- Print — a physical print comes out of the printer
- Native Share — opens the device's share sheet for AirDrop and more
If you've enabled Auto-Open QR, the QR code appears immediately without the guest needing to tap anything.
Step 6: Session Ends
After the guest shares (or after a timeout), the booth automatically returns to the attraction screen — ready for the next person in line.
The whole flow takes about 30–60 seconds per guest. Fast enough to keep the line moving, memorable enough to make an impression.
What to Tell Your Guests
Most guests figure it out on their own, but if you're standing near the booth (or putting up a sign), here's what to say:
Keep it simple:
"Step up to the booth and tap the screen to start. Strike a pose, pick an effect, and scan the QR code to get your photos on your phone!"
If you have printing enabled:
"After your photo is taken, you can scan the QR code for a digital copy or hit Print for a physical one — or both!"
If guests seem confused about AI effects:
"After your photo is taken, the booth will transform it with a fun AI effect. Just wait a couple of seconds and you'll see the result!"
Tips for a Great Guest Experience
- Keep the booth area well-lit — good lighting means better photos and better AI results
- Place a small sign with simple instructions next to the booth
- Stay nearby for the first few guests to help anyone who needs it
- Test the full flow yourself before the event starts so you know exactly what guests will see
