Importing and Exporting Templates

Designed a template you love? Export it to back it up or share it with your team. Got a template file from someone else? Import it right in.

Exporting a Template

Exporting saves your template as a portable file that includes the design and all embedded assets (images, fonts, etc.).

  1. Go to your Templates section
  2. Find the template you want to export
  3. Tap the Export option
  4. The template is saved as a file you can share or store

What's Included in the Export?

When you export a template, the file includes:

  • The complete layout design (positions, sizes, layers)
  • Embedded images (backgrounds, logos, graphics)
  • Text settings (fonts, colors, sizes)
  • Canvas specifications (size, DPI, bleed)

Everything needed to reproduce the template exactly on another device or account.

Use Cases

  • Backup — Export your best templates so you never lose them
  • Team sharing — Send a template to a colleague or partner who also uses ALIVE
  • Multi-device — Import your templates onto a second iPad for larger events
  • Client handoff — If a client needs the template file for their records

Tips

  • Export regularly — Treat it like a backup. Export after every major design session.
  • Organize your files — Name exported templates clearly (e.g., "2x6-strip-wedding-floral.json")
  • Check after importing — Always preview an imported template to make sure everything looks right

Template files include all embedded assets, so they can be fairly large if you're using high-res background images. Make sure you have enough storage space.
