Effects Failing to Apply
Guest tapped an effect but nothing happened? Here's what might be wrong.
Common Causes
1. No Internet Connection
AI effects require an active internet connection. The photo is sent to the cloud for processing.
- Fix: Check your Wi-Fi connection. Try opening a website on the iPad to verify.
2. No Credits Left
If your credit balance is zero, effects can't be processed.
- Fix: Add more credits from the web dashboard at photobooth.alive-pic.com/dashboard.
3. Server Issues
Occasionally, the AI processing service might be experiencing high load.
- Fix: Wait a moment and try again. If it persists, contact support at support@alive-pic.com.
4. Max AI Tries Reached
If the guest has already used their maximum allowed AI tries for the session, they can't apply more.
- Fix: This is working as intended. Max AI Tries is currently fixed at 1. Configurable limits are coming soon.
What Guests See
When an effect fails, ALIVE falls back to the original photo. Guests won't see a blank screen or error — they'll just see their original photo and can try again (if tries remain) or continue with sharing.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check internet — Is Wi-Fi connected and working?
- Check credits — Is your balance above zero?
- Check settings — Are effects enabled for this event?
- Try a different effect — The issue might be with a specific effect
- Restart the app — Force close and reopen
Prevention
- Monitor your credit balance — Make sure your payment method is up to date so credits are billed automatically
- Ensure stable Wi-Fi — Use a dedicated router for your booth
- Test effects before going live — Run a test session with AI effects to verify everything works
