Offline Mode: What Works Without Internet
Lost your connection at an event? Don't panic. ALIVE can keep running — with some limitations.
What Works Offline
- Running an event — You can start and run a full event without internet
- Photo capture — Take photos as usual
- Printing — Print photos to your connected printer (printer must be on the same local network)
- Local photo storage — All captured photos are saved locally on the device
What Doesn't Work Offline
- AI effects — These require cloud processing and won't work without internet
- Cloud gallery sync — Photos won't upload to the online gallery
- SMS sharing — Can't send text messages without a connection
- Email sharing — Can't send emails without a connection
- QR code gallery links — The QR code points to the cloud gallery, which requires uploaded photos
What Happens to Photos Taken Offline?
Photos captured while offline are saved locally on your iPad. They remain safe on the device. However, they will not automatically sync to the cloud when you reconnect — they stay local only.
Tips for Offline Events
- Test your setup before the event — Make sure capture and printing work without internet
- Inform your client — If you know you'll be offline, let them know that AI effects and online sharing won't be available
- Bring a mobile hotspot as backup — Even a weak cellular connection is better than nothing for AI effects. See Wi-Fi and Networking Tips
- Focus on printing — Without sharing options, physical prints become your main deliverable
