Recommended Devices
ALIVE works on any iOS device — yes, even iPhones! But for the best photobooth experience, some devices shine brighter than others.
Any iOS Device Works
ALIVE runs on any device with iOS 14.5 or later. That includes:
- All iPads — iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, base model iPad
- All iPhones — iPhone 8 and later
So if you're in a pinch and need a backup booth, even your iPhone can do the job.
Our Recommendations
iPad Pro (Best Choice)
The latest iPad Pro is our top recommendation for professional photobooth use:
- Best camera quality — LiDAR scanner and advanced camera system
- Largest screen — 12.9" or 13" display gives guests the best experience
- Fastest processor — Handles AI effects and video processing without breaking a sweat
- ProMotion display — Smooth 120Hz refresh rate for a premium feel
iPad Air (Great Mid-Range Option)
The iPad Air is a fantastic mid-range choice:
- Solid performance — Handles all ALIVE features smoothly
- Great screen size — 10.9" or 11" display
- More affordable — Great balance of performance and price
- Lightweight — Easy to mount in any booth enclosure
Base Model iPad
The standard iPad works well for:
- Budget-conscious operators — Get started without a big upfront investment
- Backup devices — Keep one as a spare for emergencies
- Simple setups — Photo capture and printing work great
What About Older iPads?
Older iPads (running iOS 14.5+) will run ALIVE, but you may notice:
- Slower AI effect processing — Older processors take longer
- Lower camera quality — Especially in low-light conditions
- Less smooth animations — Older screens may feel less responsive
If you're using an older iPad, it's a great way to get started — but consider upgrading when your business grows.
Tips
- iPad Pro for client-facing events — The screen size and camera quality make a real difference
- iPad Air for multi-booth setups — Great performance at a lower price per unit
- Always update iOS — Keep your device on the latest iOS version for the best compatibility
- Test before events — Whatever device you use, always run a test session before the actual event
