# Enabling and Disabling Share Options

Not every event needs every sharing method. ALIVE lets you toggle each option on or off globally in Settings.

---

## How to Configure

1. Go to **Settings**
2. Find the **Sharing** section
3. Toggle each option: Print, QR Code, SMS, Email, Singles/Networking

These are your **global defaults** — they apply to all events. You can also override share options on a **per-event basis** when configuring an individual event, so different events can have different sharing setups without changing your global settings.

---

## What Happens When an Option Is Disabled?

The button for that sharing method simply doesn't appear on the share screen. Guests only see what's enabled.

* All options enabled → Guests see QR, SMS, Email, Print (plus Native Share, which is always available)
* Only Print enabled → Guests see Print and Native Share
* Nothing enabled → Guests still see Native Share, but no other sharing methods

|| **Native Share is always available** — it can't be toggled off. It appears as an additional button alongside your other enabled sharing methods, giving guests access to AirDrop and the iOS share sheet.

---

## Considerations

| Method | Requires Setup? |
| --- | --- |
| Print | Yes — printer must be connected |
| QR Code | No — works out of the box |
| SMS | Yes — just enable it in settings |
| Email | Yes — just enable it in settings |
| Native Share | No — always available (cannot be disabled), uses the device's built-in share sheet (AirDrop on iPad) |

|| Before your event, make sure to customize your SMS and Email message templates. See the SMS and Email setup articles for details.

---

## Auto Open QR

There's an additional setting called **Auto Open QR** in **Settings** → **General**. When enabled, the QR code modal opens automatically after AI effects are applied — so guests immediately see the QR code without needing to tap anything. Great for unattended booth setups.

---

## Tips

* **Start with QR** — It works immediately and is the simplest option
* **Add Print if you have hardware** — Guests love physical prints
* **Customize SMS and Email templates** — They're worth it for lead collection
* **Fewer options = faster flow** — Only enable what the client actually needs
* **Use per-event overrides** — Different clients may want different sharing options. Override globally-set options on a per-event basis instead of changing your defaults every time
