# Configuring & Recording ALIVE Videos

The ALIVE Effect has a few settings you can tweak, and here's exactly what happens when it records. Everything you need to get the perfect result.

---

## Settings

### Recording Duration

How long the ALIVE video records after the photo capture.

* **Default:** 3 seconds
* **Range:** 3–10 seconds

Shorter = snappier video and faster guest flow. Longer = more cinematic result. The minimum is 3 seconds to ensure enough footage for a smooth result.

### Delay Before Start

The pause between the last photo and when the video recording begins. Gives guests a moment to hold their pose.

* **Default:** 2 seconds

### How to Configure

1. Go to **Settings**
2. Find the **ALIVE Video** section
3. Adjust duration and delay
4. Save

### Recommended Configurations

| Scenario | Duration | Delay |
| --- | --- | --- |
| High-traffic event | 3 seconds | 1 second |
| Premium experience | 4 seconds | 2 seconds |
| Attended booth | 5 seconds | 2 seconds |

## The Recording Process

Here's what happens when the ALIVE Effect kicks in:

1. Guest finishes taking their photo(s)
2. After the configured delay, the ALIVE Effect activates
3. The camera records a short video with AR animation applied
4. A visual indicator shows that recording is in progress
5. A timer shows how much time is left
6. Recording stops automatically

The whole thing is seamless — guests barely need to do anything extra. Just hold your pose for a couple more seconds.

## Previewing the Result

On the **share screen**, guests can preview their ALIVE video before sharing:

1. The share screen shows the captured photos in the template
2. An **ALIVE preview** option appears
3. Tapping it opens a modal with the animated video
4. Guests can watch it, replay it, and then decide to share

## Audio

The ALIVE Effect can include audio from the microphone — perfect for capturing laughs, cheers, or the DJ playing in the background.

| Make sure you've granted **Microphone permission** in your iPad's settings for ALIVE Photobooth. Without it, the video will be silent.

## Tips

* **Shorter is better for busy events** — 2 seconds is plenty for a shareable clip
* **Test the delay** — If guests look confused between the photo and video, add an extra second
* **Tell guests to hold their pose** — The best ALIVE videos come from guests who hold still and let the animation do its thing
* **Background matters** — A clean, well-lit background makes the AR effect look much better
* **Sound check** — If the event is loud, the audio will pick up background noise. That's usually fine — it adds atmosphere.

| The ALIVE Effect is available on both Basic and Pro plans. If you don't see these settings, make sure you have an active subscription.
